Jane Isbell Frazier Conley, 94, passed away at her
home in Scottsboro, November 21, 2011.
Mrs. Conley was born in Guntersville, second
daughter of Leila Mae and Col D
Isbell. Following graduation from The University of Alabama,
Mrs. Conley worked on Capitol Hill in Washington D.C. during WW II,
was a secretary at The First Congregational Church in Los Angeles
and was the receptionist for Alabama's governor, James E. (Big Jim)
Folsom. In 1947, Mrs. Conley married Major William H. Frazier Jr.,
who was stationed at
nearby Maxwell Air Force Base. A son, William H. Frazier III, was
born in September 1949; however, in November 1950, Major Frazier
was killed in action while serving in Korea.
A widow and living in Guntersville and later on in
Chattanooga, Mrs. Conley met and married Paul W. Conley from
Scottsboro. Teacher, church leader and community volunteer were all
responsibilities Mrs. Conley gladly accepted as she raised her
family in Scottsboro.
Mrs. Conley's survivors include daughter, Janet
Webb Christian; son, William
(Hank) Frazier; niece, Sarah Jane Knott; granddaughters: Laura
Conley Cotter, Lisa
Christian Howell and Lisbeth Jane Jones; great grandchildren:
Austin Croft, Paul
Christian Cotter, Anna Laura Cotter, John Wesley Howell, Ferris
Jones and Lucie
Jane Jones.
Services will be Friday, November 25 at 11:00 AM
at The First United Methodist
Church in Scottsboro. Visitation will be in the church at 9:30 AM.
A family burial service will be in Guntersville.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations
be made to First United Methodist
Church, Scottsboro or Alzheimer's Association, 4205 Hillsboro
Pike, Suite 216;
Nashville, TN 37215-3439.
