John Earl Phillips, age 65 of Scottsboro, died Tuesday, February 7, 2012 at his residence.  Funeral services will be 11:00 am Thursday at Scottsboro Funeral Home Chapel with Sammy Thomas officiating.  Burial will follow in Goose Pond Cemetery.  The family will receive friends Wednesday from 12:00 noon until 9:00 pm.

Mr. Phillips is survived by his wife, Kay Phillips, of Scottsboro; sons,Adam (Jeannie) Phillips of Woodville and Chris (Kim) Phillips of Dutton; daughters, Jennifer Phillips of Dutton and Misty (James) Trivett of Scottsboro; brother, Buddy (Doris) Phillips of Scottsboro; sister, Mary "Sis" (Sammy) Thomas of Scottsboro; sister-in-law, Margie Phillips of Lebanon TN; five grandchildren; four great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and a host of family and friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Homer Rice and Maggie Lou Phillips, brother Raymond Phillips, and a great granddaughter, Graclyn Alexis.
