Mrs. Marcella Rogers Holt

Marcella Flowers Rogers Holt, 89, of Scottsboro, AL passed away peacefully at Rosewood Manor in Scottsboro on Sunday, April 12, 2026. She was born March 8, 1937 in Boston, MA to Hamilton Goodrich Flowers and Loraine Greene Flowers. She grew up in New Orleans, LA and graduated from McGehee School for girls. She attended the University of Alabama but only got her Mrs. “degree” there when she met and married Breckenridge Barnes Aduston Rogers Jr. Marcella grew up in the city but loved small town life in Eutaw, AL where she lived, worked, and raised her family and then her new home in Scottsboro, AL from 2011 until passing. At the young age of 40 she completed her nursing degree and 2 months later was widowed with 3 teenagers. Fast forward ten years and while working as a nurse for Gulf States Paper Corporation she met and married Tim Holt. She and Tim travelled the country extensively with their fifth wheel “The Jackpot”. It is alleged but not proven, that they may have visited a casino or two during these travels. In Scottsboro she served many years as a Highlands Hospital Ambassador and also volunteered at the Well’s Mana House. She was predeceased by her parents and her first husband BBA “Breck” Rogers Jr. and second husband James J. “Tim” Holt. She is survived by her children Breckenridge B. A. Rogers III (Reenay), Goodrich A. “Dus” Rogers (Rebecca), and Cynthia R. Geurts (Ron); grandchildren: Breckenridge A. Rogers, Morgan R. Campbell (Will), Annah R. Cofer (Dave), Lillian Rogers, Phoebe Geurts, and Saidee Geurts, three great grandchildren and her sister Deborah Flowers Edgerton (Edwin) and several nieces and nephews. The family is especially grateful for the loving and compassionate care by the staff at Rosewood Manor and Enhabit Hospice of Scottsboro. A memorial service is planned for Friday, July 17th at 11 am at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Scottsboro, AL. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 402 S.
