Mrs. Patricia Ann Wigley Lusk
July 14, 1947 - April 9, 2022
Patricia Ann Wigley Lusk was born in Fort Payne, Alabama on July 14, 1947 to Dilmus and Ilene Wigley. Her parents preceded her in death. She has four younger brothers, Eddie (Linde), Barry (Madonna), Mark (Angela), and Roger (Deana). On April 22, 1972, Pat married Winford “Buddy” Lusk. They would have celebrated their Golden Anniversary on April 22, 2022. At the time of their marriage, Buddy had two sons, Bobby and David. Bobby has two sons, Steven (Ashley) and Kyle. David has three daughters, Tracy, Kelly (Josh), and Jamie. Together, Buddy and Pat had Paige Allison Lusk Laughlin (Brian) and two granddaughters, Olivia and Eliza. Pat attended Lowrey High School in Dearborn, Michigan in 1965. After graduation, she moved back to Alabama. Here, she got married and became a stay at home mom for a few years before joining the workforce. She completed secretarial school and went to work at Bellefonte Nuclear Plant. After retiring from a secretarial career at Bellefonte Nuclear Plant, she attended college and was awarded a degree as a Certified Occupational Therapist Assistant from Wallace Community College at 50 years old. Later, she served as the full-time caregiver for her mother who suffered from dementia. Pat was curious about the world and a life-long learner. Pat was raised in the Church of God. Her faith has always been a tremendous part of her life. At the time of her death, she was in the House of the Lord. While she would be the first to tell you that she was not perfect, she tried steadfastly to live in a way that would be pleasing to Jesus. She loved others fiercely! No one carried a burden alone. She embodied Galatians 6:2…Carry each other’s burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ. Her kitchen table was a place where her guests were given a cup of hot coffee and a listening ear. In retirement, Pat was a part of a group of ladies who make up the Tuesday Lunch Bunch. They met weekly to fellowship and do life together. This friendship was enduring. With Buddy, Pat enjoyed long car rides to look at wildlife and gardening. She loved adventure shopping and extreme couponing. Pat was an artist, collector, and crafter. Being a grandmother was the delight of her life. She would play Barbie’s for hours, or pretend to be a bank teller like it was a job. She taught the girls how to host lovely tea parties and they taught her the latest teen crazes. As a mother, she showed big, extravagant, complete, unconditional love. There was never room for doubt. She was my hero, my biggest cheerleader, my first phone call, and my best friend. Oh how I am going to miss her! Patricia Ann Wigley Lusk used to say that she loved to put things in the ground just to see what would grow. I would say that the seeds that she planted in the hearts of those who knew her grew love, healing, acceptance, and hope…….a lovely, colorful garden planted by a beautiful woman. A memorial service will be held on Friday, April 15, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at Scottsboro Funeral Home with Rev. Brett Hogland and Gary Haymon officiating. The family will receive friends beginning at 12 noon on Friday. Arrangements Entrusted to Scottsboro Funeral Home
